Two very Big Thank You’s from Revd Sandi. First for all who have worked so hard serving others in so many ways in the run up to Christmas with our Community services and events, and who will be ‘on duty’ in all sorts of ways over Christmas and into the New Year. You are all amazing and I’m really grateful to serve alongside you in our churches. And secondly thank you for your prayers for Dave and I in this busy season, your Christmas greetings and gifts. May we wish you all a joyous and peace-filled Christmas. God Bless Revd Sandi.

Welcome

to the Parish Church of St Andrew's and St Peter's Fairlight where people have been worshipping God since Saxon times.

St Andrew's Church Fairlight - Opening Times:  We are really thankful for the lovely team of volunteers who open and close St Andrew's Church in the good weather. Generally the Church is open approximately 10am and 4pm. If you will be making a special journey to visit please do give us a few days notice and we will try our best to ensure the church is open.

We are a traditional Anglican (Church of England) parish and we have the great privilege of meeting together for worship in a fine mediaeval building set in a beautiful corner of East Sussex.

We meet with God in prayer, in reading the Bible and in Holy Communion. We'd love you to come along and share that experience with us, and we'd be pleased to welcome you. You will receive a warm welcome at any of our regular services held at St Andrews and our regular events held mainly at St Peters.  These can be found on our calendar and in the information bar on the home page.

ABOUT OUR FAITH

Christianity is about following Jesus

Christian tradition is broad and has deep roots. There's a wide range of understanding of the faith and of approaches to it.

At St Andrew's and St Peter's Church we believe that Christianity is less about lists of beliefs you have to sign up to, and rules you have to obey, and more about a way of life based on the principles that Jesus teaches us. It's something we try to live seven days a week, not just on Sunday.

Most of all it's about experiencing God's love and sharing it with others. We meet with God in prayer, in reading the Bible and in Holy Communion.

We'd love you to come along and share that experience with us.

About Us

St Andrews Church - Fairlight, Construction of the present church began in 1845 and it was consecrated in August the following year, by the Bishop of Chichester. It is considerably larger than the old church and legend has it that it contained a seat for every one of the 366 people living in the parish at that time.
The building is of local sandstone and the interior is of Caen stone.
A feature of the nave is its steep roof forming an equilateral triangle.
Victorian stained glass fills windows in the chancel and nave.
The tower, the second highest point in East Sussex, gives a panoramic view and is open every weekend and bank holidays from May to September, as well as Friday afternoons during August.
Visitors may ring the bells by means of a ‘carillon’ keyboard.
The churchyard contains graves of interest and is still in use.

St Peter's Church - Fairlight, This small wooden church was dedicated in 1970 and replaced a temporary structure erected in 1947 to serve the growing population of Fairlight Cove, many of whom found it difficult to make the uphill trek to the parent churtch of St. Andrew, about a mile distant.

Services are held here regularly and the building is also much used as a venue for other events.
